Folk tales survived centuries of retelling because each generation was allowed to tell them a little differently. The screen isn't the enemy of that tradition — losing the habit of retelling at all is.
Retelling, not rescuing
The goal isn't to freeze these stories exactly as our grandparents told them. It's to keep them alive enough that today's kids want to tell them to someone else.
